Facing My Need for Forgiveness

Romans 6:23; 1 John 1:8-9
Recognizing the depth of my sin
Before we can truly forgive others, we have to see how much we've been forgiven. Sin isn't just the obvious things, it's our thoughts, our neglect, our reactions. We all carry a debt we could never repay.
  • Father, show me where I have sinned-through actions, words, and thoughts.
  • Help me stop minimizing or excusing my sin.
  • I confess specifically: _____________________
  • Thank You that Jesus has already paid my debt in full.
Write down 3-5 specific sins from the past few days and honestly bring them before God.
Tuesday

Receiving God’s Ongoing Forgiveness

1 John 1:9; 2 Corinthians 5:21
Living free from guilt
God didn’t just forgive your past, He continues to forgive. Every sin has already been paid for at the cross. When you confess, God is not reluctant—He is faithful and just to forgive.
  • Father, help me truly believe I am forgiven.
  • Remove any lingering guilt or shame I am holding onto.
  • Thank You that the cross covered even my recent failures.
  • Help me walk today in freedom, not condemnation.
When guilt comes up today, respond with truth: “That sin has already been paid for.”
Wednesday

Naming the Hurt

Psalm 34:18
Acknowledging pain honestly
Forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending it didn’t hurt. You can’t heal what you won’t admit. God invites you to bring your real pain, not a polished version.
  • God, this is what hurt me: ________
  • This is what it cost me: (trust, peace, relationship, etc.)
  • I feel: (anger, sadness, betrayal, confusion)
  • Meet me in this pain and begin healing my heart.
  • Name the person or situation that hurt you. Be honest—don’t soften it.
    Thursday

Choosing to Forgive (Even If It’s a Process)

    Matthew 6:14–15; Matthew 18:21–35
    Releasing the debt
Forgiveness is not saying “it’s okay,” it’s releasing your right to collect the debt. It may not happen all at once. You may have to forgive again and again as the hurt resurfaces.
  • Father, I choose to forgive: ________
  • They owe me: (an apology, trust, justice, etc.)
  • Today, I release that debt to You.
  • Help me forgive again when the pain comes back.
  • Say their name in prayer and release them to God—specifically and intentionally.
    Friday

    Walking in Freedom

    Hebrews 12:15; Luke 23:34
    Letting go of bitterness
Bitterness feels like control, but it slowly destroys us. Forgiveness feels like loss, but it leads to freedom. When you release resentment, you don’t lose....you win.
  • God, search my heart for any root of bitterness.
  • Replace resentment with Your grace.
  • Fill my heart with Your peace and freedom.
  • Pray for the person who hurt you—not just once, but sincerely. Ask God to bless them.
